Berlin Cathedral
The Berlin Cathedral is the largest church building in Berlin and a central landmark of the city. Built between 1894 and 1905, the impressive church tower dome offers breathtaking views over the city. What is interesting is that the cathedral was badly damaged during the Second World War and was only fully restored in 1993. Inside you will find a remarkable organ with over 7,000 pipes, which is regularly used for concerts. The crypt of the cathedral houses the graves of Prussian kings and other important personalities.
The Berlin Cathedral is located on Museum Island, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and can be easily combined with a visit to the surrounding museums. During a guided tour you can find out more about the eventful history of the building. There are also numerous events in the cathedral, including organ concerts and festive services. A visit is not only worthwhile for those interested in history, but also offers an ideal opportunity to experience Berlin culture up close.
